I bought the XTOOL D7S for my family’s fleet of cars in Italy (a Fiat 500, Audi A3, and Fiat Ducato van). What impressed me most is how it handles both passenger cars and light commercial vehicles—most scanners only do one or the other. The airbag system diagnostics were spot-on when my Audi had a false airbag warning, and the print function let me share reports with my local mechanic easily. We’ve got two cars at home – a Toyota and a Chinese SUV – and it connects to both seamlessly. It covers most major brands, from older models to newer ones, so no need for separate gadgets. Jolly convenient if you’ve got a family fleet; perfect for pre-road-trip checks or quick spot-inspections.

It's not cheap, but it works and it works well and is very durable. It comes with Free lifetime updates, so no subscription fees. It was easy to get setup, connected to the internet right away and updates were easy to install. I also like that it's wireless and the VCI attaches to the back of the tablet via magnets.

I've used it on Audi & BMW vehicles at this point and it's scanned all of the modules and return the diagnostic codes that I expected it to. I was even able to do some coding on my Q7. I don't think it will replace VCDS for VW/Audi users, but as a tool that works on all manufactures it works pretty well.

For the European cars that I have used it on, I didn't even have to tell it what the vehicle was, it was able to read it from the VIN. I used it on the neighbor's Toyota and did have to specify the year make and model even though it was able to read it from the VIN.

This scanner is absolutely exceptional. It's a nice compact sized tool that does ALOT of things which would be very helpful for everyday shop use. For a DIY person, this tool will do almost everything you would need on your own and family/friends vehicle(s).
Updates are consistent, battery life is great in the beginning but it will need to be charged everyday unless you have it constantly hooked up to the OBD-II port.
I never had any issues diagnosing, going through live data or doing special functions across multiple vehicles even Maserati, Alfa Romeo and Porsche.

The UI is very simple and clean, everything is easy to navigate and read. It's definitely worth the price but do take care of it! I accidentally dropped mine in a mop bucket and it was totally ruined but the customer support is awesome and I upgraded to the D9S and will have Xtool repair my D7S in the future.
